When it comes to quality care, consistency and attention to detail make all the difference.
At Equine Retirement Livery, our daily routines at both Glebe Farm and Moor Farm are designed to provide practical, experienced care for retired and resting horses across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

Here’s what a typical day looks like across both sites:
7:00 AM — Morning Feed & Field Prep
We start early, mixing up morning feeds with any medications or supplements required for each individual field. At the same time, we prep rugs, fly masks, sun cream, or anything else needed for the day ahead, and load them up for rounds.
7:30 AM — Field Checks and Care Rounds
Each field is carefully walked, with every horse checked closely for movement, condition, and general wellbeing. We administer medications, apply creams, adjust rugs, and always ensure water containers are full and clean. If a horse is laying down, we gently encourage them to get up and walk so we can check their soundness. We also assess grass levels and hay provision for the day.
11:00 AM — Farm Duties and Appointments
Once the morning rounds are complete, feed buckets are cleaned and restocked. Horses with vet appointments are held in our individual holding pens (available in every field), making it easy to manage visits calmly and efficiently. Our farrier visits regularly, usually weekly, to trim any horses booked in.
4:00–5:00 PM — Evening Checks
Afternoon rounds are just as thorough, with final checks across all fields. We review each horse’s condition and administer any evening medications. All shelters (whether static at Glebe or open barns at Moor) are monitored for cleanliness and bedding, with fresh straw added where needed.
Communication & Owner Updates
We keep in touch with owners as often as they’d like, some prefer weekly updates, others just want to know when something changes. We’re happy to tailor this to suit your preferences.
Our Philosophy
Whether your horse thrives in Glebe’s quieter herds and natural field shelters or Moor’s more open, social environment with larger turnout and Dutch barn access, our commitment is the same: structured routines, individual attention, and dependable communication.
